Academic Division Reorganized

The academic division at Cedarville University has a new look for the start of the 2007-2008 academic year. According to the Academic Vice President, Cedarville's four schools have been reorganized to achieve better utilization of resources, enhance the coherence of each school, and increase collaborative opportunities. School names have also been revised. The four schools in the academic division are the School of Humanities; the School of Natural and Applied Sciences; the School of Social Sciences and Human Performance; and, a brand new school for the University, the School of Biblical and Theological Studies.

The School of Biblical and Theological Studies was developed with the following rationale, according to the Academic Vice President:

  • The School of Biblical and Theological Studies makes a positive statement on the significance of the Bible and the department of Biblical Education at Cedarville University.
  • The School of Biblical and Theological Studies demonstrates administrative commitment to the importance of the department of Biblical Education.
  • The School of Biblical and Theological Studies ensures a theological voice on the dean's council.
  • The School of Biblical and Theological Studies facilitates the development of programs and the growth of student enrollment, e.g., graduate and online offerings.

Dr. Tom Hutchison serves as interim dean of the School of Biblical and Theological Studies. The transitional structure of the school incorporates the departments of Theology and Philosophy, Ministry and Mission, and Biblical Studies.
