Curriculum

Sculpture Professor MellickWhether you have a history of previous art training or not, our program is designed to tap into your intuitive abilities and interests in art. All art majors share foundational courses in drawing, design, and art history. After completing these courses you are introduced to courses specific to the major; courses in painting, sculpture, printmaking, and ceramics.

You will soon begin to appreciate the individual attention and guidance from our gifted faculty members as they guide you toward personal expression and high levels of craftsmanship.

Your art education is then capped with upper level studio courses in which you may pursue your specific interest and explore personal expression and thinking. These studio courses are also designed to prepare you professionally with capstone experiences in preparing an exhibition of your work, writing artist’s statements, and preparing a professional portfolio.
