Interactive Web Design Course Planning Guide

If you’re a current Graphic Design major and/or you are completing the Creative Web Design Minor the new Interactive Design curriculum presents some exciting options for you to consider.

Current Graphic Design Majors

If you are a Graphic Design major and required by your catalogue to take GDES-3600 Advance Web Design, you can take either VCD-2700 Scripting for Interactivity or VCD-3700 User Experience (UX) and Interface Design. The UX course is recommended for students who are more interested in graphic design than in interactive design.

If you are not a Creative Web Design Minor but have considered a career in interactive web design, keep reading.

Current or Potential Creative Web Design Minors

If you are completing the Creative Web Design Minor you can complete the minor using courses you’ve already planned to take, or with some substitutions from the new curriculum for courses that are no longer going to be offered. Learn more from this guide »

If you are serious about pursuing a career in interactive design, some new courses offer alternatives that you should consider. Learn more about the new Interactive Web Design Curriculum »

If you have two course slots (6 credits) left in your plan, consider:

  • VCD-3600 Web Design II (strongly recommended)
  • VCD-4600 Web Design III (strongly recommended)
  • and/or one or more of the non-VCD courses listed in Table B.

If you have three or more course slots (9+ credits) left in your plan, consider:

  • VCD-3600 Web Design II (strongly recommended)
  • VCD-4600 Web Design III (strongly recommended)
  • VCD-4700 Interactive Design Capstone
  • and/or any of the non-VCD courses lists in Table B.
