Integrated Business Core

As part of the business administration curriculum, most juniors choose to participate in the Integrated Business Core (IBC). This innovative program will help you develop a cross-disciplinary view of business. You will take Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, and Principles of Finance along with a course called the IBC Practicum. The first three courses prepare you for the activities and requirements of the fourth course. As part of the practicum, you will form a company, write a business plan, obtain a loan, implement your plan, make a profit, and close down operations. While running the company, your team will also choose a local nonprofit organization to support with a minimum of 10 hours of work per team member, as well as all of your "company's" profits at the end of the semester. The IBC gives you more ownership of the learning process and provides practical, real-life experience of actually doing what you are learning about. In the years since its inception at Cedarville University, IBC students have donated 5,000 hours of service and $53,000 to nonprofit organizations.
