Students conduct interviews, observe interactions and analyze documents and discourse to understand the cultural and organizational contexts in which they are a part. Learning to know people, events and organizations through interacting with them requires commitment, rigor, transparency and coherence. Qualitative research produces knowledge that promotes effective communication with unique people in particular situations. Investigative techniques are useful to those anticipating careers in counseling, consulting, administering, negotiating, marketing and ministry.
