Jewerl Maxwell, Assistant Professor of Political Science
Dr. Maxwell teaches courses in American politics and political thought, with specialization in the American presidency, campaigns and elections, and constitutional law. His research focuses primarily on presidential unilateral powers. His dissertation examined the use of executive orders in equal employment opportunity, and he recently co-authored a book with Ryan Barilleaux titled Tough Times for the President: Political Adversity and the Sources of Presidential Power. Dr. Maxwell also serves as the Associate Dean of the Center for Lifelong Learning.

- Why I'm at Cedarville: God opened up the opportunity for me, and I couldn’t pass it up. I was teaching at a small college 45 minutes from where I grew up, and I thought I would be there for most of my career. However, there is something distinct and special about Cedarville, and I believe God led me here.
