SEMESTER PROGRAMS TRHOUGH THE COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION EXCHANGE (CIEE)


General Info

While CIEE offers programs in 35 countries and in over 40 subject areas, Cedarville recommends students choose from a select few. Fifty four of the 97 study abroad programs do not have a language pre-requisite.

Approval to apply online must be received from the Office of International Programs prior to applying.

CIEE applications are available in the Office of International Programs, Collins 22.

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

This program is especially suited for students majoring in international affairs, communications, and economics who have a keen interest in the European Union.

Program Highlights

  • Choice of English-taught courses in business, communications and international relations
  • Opportunity to take classes with European and other international students
  • Option of taking French-taught courses at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles
  • Field trips to EU institutions, excursions, and cultural activities

FERRARA, ITALY

This program is designed for students with 0-3 semesters of Italian language, who want to be immersed in the culture of their host country by studying in a small and untouristed Renaissance city. Students will improve their Italian language skills, but will take content courses in English.

Program Highlights

  • Immersion in Italian language through an intensive Italian Language course, whether you are at a beginning or intermediate level
  • Courses in English concerning contemporary and historic Italian issues
  • Excursions to cultural attractions in the renaissance city of Ferrara
  • Field trips to nearby cities such as Venice, Florence, Bologna, and Padua

This program is appropriate for students from all academic disciplines who have a strong interest in learning about contemporary South African life and society and the forces that have created that society.
