Examination of the purposes and objectives along with the methods and curricular models used in the K-12 foreign language classroom. This course addresses the theories of first and second language acquisition, as well as topics such as the relationship of foreign language learning to other content areas. The student is given information regarding opportunities in planning lessons with appropriate materials, sequencing, and execution of learning activities. Evaluations of student learning, student behavior, and self- evaluation as integral parts of successful teaching are also stressed. The students will also gain insight into the importance of understanding one's own language and culture as a means to understanding the language and culture of the target peoples. Open to Multi-age Spanish Education majors only.
