A study of the social, political, economic, and religious issues that have defined the American experience in the last half of the 20th century. Diverse poetry, short stories, drama, novels, and films will be analyzed to give students an understanding of the myriad subjectivities that have shaped American values and attitudes since World War II. Upper level literature courses cannot be used as a substitution for the general education literature requirement. Prerequisite: Any 200-level literature course.
