A study of the characteristics, culture, and control of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. A major emphasis is placed on microorganisms and disease, with some coverage of industrial and environmental topics. Laboratory techniques are emphasized in the laboratory. Two lectures and two two-hour laboratories per week. Prerequisites: CHEM-1000 Principles of Chemistry, CHEM-1010 Principles of Biochemistry, or equivalent.
