Instructions for using the online FAFSA IRS Data Retrieval Tool
Students and parents completing the FAFSA are encouraged to use this tool after either the student or parents have officially submitted their 2012 IRS tax return.

  • If taxes submitted online: the tax filer needs to wait 1-2 weeks before their IRS tax data will be available for transfer from the IRS to the online FAFSA
  • If taxes were submitted via the US Postal Service: the tax filer needs to wait 6-8 weeks before their IRS tax data will be available for transfer from the IRS to the online FAFSA

Completing the 2013-14 FAFSA: First-time Filers or Renewal Filers

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is required to access all need-based aid (institutional, federal, state), including access to federal loans. This webinar will help parents and students understand foundational concepts which enable the student applicant to successfully complete the FAFSA. This webinar will address both first-time FAFSA filers and returning filers who need to renew their FAFSA for the new academic year. You will also receive information and tips to help you avoid unnecessary errors and processing delays.
