Remembering Harold "PG" Green
Dr. Harold "PG" Green is celebrating his first days in heaven. He passed away early in the morning on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at his home in Cedarville following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 80 years old.
Pastor Green and his wife Margaret began serving at Cedarville under Dr. James T. Jeremiah in 1970. PG founded Cedarville’s Christian ministries program, and he continued in the ministry for 25 years as campus pastor and vice president for Christian ministries.
Many alumni will remember the quarterly chapel themes displayed above the platform in the former chapel. This was Pastor Green’s labor of love — it was so important to him that students’ thoughts were daily centered on Christ.
His legacy in world missions lives on through the MIS (Missions Involvement Services) program he cofounded. He personally led teams to Australia for many years.
After "retiring" in 1995, Pastor Green served the University as director of church relations until 2000. A tireless advocate for Cedarville students, he was an enthusiastic University representative for enrollment management for the next eight years.
PG’s life and ministry deeply affected the lives of thousands of students and the faculty and staff that were privileged to serve with him. He will be missed, although we join his family in rejoicing that Harold is free from pain and home with the Lord and Savior he faithfully served.
Margaret shared this verse that celebrates the "living hope" that transforms our sorrow into joy:
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." 1 Peter 1:3
Please keep Margaret and the Green family in your prayers as they face difficult days and months ahead.
