- If you would like to request a chapel slide announcement, please carefully read through the information below to assure that your request will not be delayed.
Note: Chapel slide announcements are shown before and after chapel, Monday through Thursday. SGA is in charge of Friday chapels including any announcements. SGA contact information is available on the SGA website..
Who can submit a chapel announcement?
Campus departments and student organizations may request a slide announcement.
- All requests by student organizations must be approved and sent by the faculty or staff advisor.
- If we receive questions about the event, we will give the advisor's name as the contact person.
All requests must pertain to the majority of the student body to receive approval from Pastor Rohm's office.
How should it be formatted?
The chapel video equipment was upgraded to High Definition (HD) over the summer. Because of this, all announcement slides must be formatted in a 16:9 aspect ratio. We recommend that you apply these settings before creating your PowerPoint presentation, as it will distort graphics and font orientation when switched from the default 4:3 settings. Use these steps in PowerPoint to make the change:
- Click the Design tab > click Page Setup > go to the pop-up Page Setup dialog
- Click the drop-down list named Slides Size for and select On-screen Show (16:9)
- Click the OK button to save your changes
We also request that you embed fonts into the PowerPoint by following these steps:
- Click File > Options > Save
- Check the Embed fonts in the file checkbox
- Select the Embed all characters radio button
- Click the OK button to save your changes
You can create your own chapel slide announcement in PowerPoint or Photoshop, or you can send the information and it will be put on a "generic" slide.
- PowerPoint (pptx) or Photoshop (psd), slides must be created in these programs—please do not import a file into them as we sometimes need to adjust the font or color to make it work well on the screens.
- Alternatively, slides may be submitted in a jpg format. Since production services cannot edit these formats, you may be contacted to edit the slide so that it will work well in the auditorium. Please keep in mind that any necessary edits may delay when your slide will be displayed in chapel.
- Unfortunately no animation or audio can be attached to a PowerPoint slide.
- Note: production services has the right to adjust the slide for layout and colors that will work well in the auditorium.
Slide needs to list the organization's (or campus department's) name, as well as location, date, and time of event.
Where and when should it be sent?
- A chapel slide announcement should be e-mailed to the Chapel Announcements account at chapelan@cedarville.edu
- All requests must be received by 10:00 a.m. two business days in advance. Slides may be displayed in chapel for a maximum of two consecutive weeks.
Note: Some chapel services will not include chapel slide announcements. Please send your request early to make sure there is no conflict.
