For the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ

S.O.U.L. Ministry Incentive Funds Application

Serving Others with Unconditional Love

The community ministries department exists to assist students who desire to serve and meet the needs of others.  The Ministry Incentive Funds program is available for student organizations, classes, or other student groups whose members serve as volunteers in a ministry that takes place in the United States, preferably within close proximity to Cedarville University. This program is intended to help cover expenses directly related to the cost of student participation in a ministry.

Applications will be reviewed and approved by the community ministries director.

Grant Amounts: Grant Amounts: Organizations and groups may submit one Incentive funds proposal per semester. The amount requested should not exceed $250 and a detailed breakdown of the total request must be provided in the application. When a group is selected to receive incentive funds, the approved amount will be deposited directly to their financial account and their leadership will be responsible to distribute those funds appropriately, according to the ministry-related needs as outlined in their application.

Criteria for Approval: The planned ministry must provide a hands-on opportunity for students to participate as volunteers in the United States (preferably within close proximity to Cedarville University). The ministry must target one or more of the following areas:  evangelism; poverty or homelessness; urban or inner-city locations; the elderly or widows; orphans or foster kids; the sick or suffering; prisoners; the physically or mentally disabled; ethnic, cultural, or socio-economic diversity; or the local church. Cooperation with local churches, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, or community service organizations is encouraged and essential for long-term impact. It is our expectation that any partnerships with faith-based ministries and/or churches will occur with those who are in substantial agreement with the Cedarville University doctrinal statement. Although we appreciate the many student organizations that participate in important activities such as fund-raising for ministries or increasing campus-awareness of issues, this particular incentive program is intended to support student organizations whose members personally engage in an off-campus ministry outreach activity.

Application Process:  Applications must be received by the community ministries office at least 10 days prior to the proposed ministry event date.  Applicants must agree that all money will be used specifically for the ministry as stated in the original application for ministry-related items such as transportation, food, materials, etc.  The ministry should take place during the current school year.  We will communicate with the organization president, assigned officer, student leader, and/or faculty/staff advisor regarding the status of your application. We will also request feedback from student leaders and participants after the event is completed so they may evaluate their experience and make suggestions for improvement.
