Dr. Jeff Lewis (program coordinator)

Jeffrey Lewis

Dr. Lewis received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati. After completing a specialized residency in hospital pharmacy administration at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals he returned to his home state of Ohio to assume the role of Clinical Coordinator at Timken Mercy Medical Center in Canton, and subsequently the Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services at Summa Health System in Akron. While in these roles, Dr. Lewis was responsible for developing and maintaining many of the systems and processes that affect quality institutional drug use (e.g. formulary management, hospital staff education, Continuous Quality Improvement efforts related to safe medication use). Through this work he developed a special interest and expertise in medication error reduction strategies.

After several years in clinical pharmacy management, he turned his attention to the ambulatory arena, including home care, and progressive community pharmacy services with Ritzman Pharmacies of northeast Ohio. During this period of time he also built upon his interest in worship, earning a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries from Malone College in Canton, Ohio.

In October of 2000, he accepted an invitation to join medical information publisher Lexi-Comp, Inc. (Hudson, Ohio) as a pharmacotherapy specialist with primary responsibility for developing and maintaining the organization's envisioned drug interactions database (Lexi-Interact™ was quickly recognized as an industry standard by healthcare leaders across the nation), and concluded his tenure there as Director of Product Development. In 2007 he completed a course fellowship in medical informatics sponsored by the National Library of Medicine and Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Maryland.

Prior to joining the faculty of Cedarville University in 2009 as Assistant Dean of the School of Pharmacy, Dr. Lewis worked with The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy and Giant Eagle Pharmacy to develop a unique, clinical training for Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences.

A proven leader and educator, Dr. Lewis joins the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy Leadership Team with over 20 years of pharmacy experience. Dr. Lewis has authored numerous publications and professional presentations in addition to editing hundreds of published drug monographs. He also brings more than 15 years of clinical faculty and teaching experience with The University of Cincinnati, Virginia Commonwealth University, The University of Toledo, Ohio Northern University and The University of Findlay.

Beginning his work as assistant dean in July of 2009, Dr. Lewis oversees external relations, admissions and student life for the School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Marc Sweeney

Marc Sweeney

A native of Ohio, Marc attended Ohio Northern University where he was an academic all-conference cross country athlete and graduated with distinction with a bachelor of science in pharmacy. He continued his education at The Ohio State University, earning his doctor of pharmacy degree. Following his doctoral degree, he completed an academic leadership fellowship at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also possesses a Masters of Divinity from the Southwest Bible College and Seminary.

His academic experience includes full-time teaching appointments at Ohio Northern University and the University of Findlay along with a variety of teaching assignments. At Ohio Northern, one of the nation's largest pharmacy schools, Dr. Sweeney served as a clinical pharmacy professor in addition to directing the experiential education and advanced practice components. When the University of Findlay decided to start a pharmacy program, he was recruited to serve on the leadership team, ultimately functioning at Findlay as chair of pharmacy practice and co-director of continuing education.

A certified palliative care specialist, Marc brings a wealth of pharmacy experience to this role. His professional positions have included responsibilities in palliative care, oncology, home care, long term care, ambulatory care and community pharmacy. Areas in which he has researched, published and presented include drug interactions, pharmacy practice, education, and patient safety. He has received more than $400,000 in grant support since 2001. Dr. Sweeney has also been active in and honored by a number of professional organizations, including the Ohio Pharmacists Association, where he served as president in 2004-2005.

Dr. Sweeney began his full-time duties as dean in June of 2009.

Dr. Douglas Anderson

Douglas Anderson

Dr. Anderson began his pharmacy education at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, earning his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy 1988 and completing Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City in 1989. Dr. Anderson was the first Doctor of Pharmacy graduate at the University of Oklahoma upon completing his Pharm.D. degree in 1992. His education also includes a Fellowship in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

As a clinical pharmacist, Dr. Anderson's areas of expertise include anticoagulation and thromboembolic disorders as well as cardiovascular risk reduction. He has produced numerous publications, invited presentations and research. As a researcher, Dr. Anderson has attracted more than $700,000 in grant support from organizations including the University of Texas, Pfizer, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Astra/Merck, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi Associates and Partners Foundation, University of Mississippi Faculty Grant Program, American Academy of Family Physicians, McNeil Consumer Products, and Sherwood Medical.

Dr. Anderson also possesses extensive teaching and professional experience. Just prior to coming to Cedarville he served as an associate professor and the director of the Southwest Georgia Pharmacy Program as part of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He has also taught at Albany State University, the School of Pharmacy of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and College of Pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His other professional experience includes serving as clinical pharmacy specialist at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, vice president for clinical operations at Pharmacy Specialists LLC, clinical pharmacy specialist at Lawton VA Outpatient Clinic, adverse drug reaction specialist at the GV Montgomery VA Medical Center, poison information specialist at Children's Hospital of Oklahoma, drug information specialist at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, clinical pharmacist at University Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, relief pharmacist for Relief for Pharmacists, director of pharmacy services at Medical Outpatient Management, and staff pharmacist at South Community Hospital.

A nationally recognized clinical pharmacist, Dr. Anderson brings significant academic, research and pharmacy practice experience to the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy Leadership Team. As chair, a role he assumed in August of 2009, he will be developing and leading the Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Dr. Elisha Injeti

Elisha Injeti

Dr. Injeti earned a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Master of Science in Pharmacology from Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, India. After he served three years on faculty teaching pharmacology and physiology at St. John's Pharmacy College in Bangalore, India, he pursued advanced studies at Loma Linda University in southern California, earning a post baccalaureate certificate in biomedical and clinical ethics as well as a Ph.D. in pharmacology. Dr. Injeti also served as a predoctoral fellow at the Center of Perinatal Biology at Loma Linda University. Upon completing his doctorate, he returned to teaching, accepting a position at the University of Toledo in Ohio where he taught pharmacology, toxicology, and pathophysiology in the school of pharmacy while expanding his research initiatives.

Dr. Injeti joins the Cedarville University School of Pharmacy as the director for research and development. In this role, he will launch a vibrant pharmaceutical science research program while also pursuing his licensure to practice pharmacy in Ohio. Dr. Injeti's research interests, of which he has several publications, include drug interactions, pharmacokinetics, and vascular pharmacology.

Ms. Laura Tietje

Laura Tietje

Laura Tietje earned a bachelor of science in managerial accounting with a minor in human resource management as well as a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in healthcare management and human resource management from The University of Findlay. While completing her degrees, Ms. Tietje served as an intern for the Blanchard Valley Health Systems Managed Care Department where she assisted in data analysis, literature research and grant applications. She also served as a graduate assistant for The University of Findlay College of Pharmacy where her responsibilities included development of medication therapy management reimbursement models for the local community, pharmacy student mentorship for research projects, grant writing and staff support for the Cardinal Health Retail Business Conference.

Prior to assuming her role as the Coordinator for Student Development, Ms. Tietje most recently served as a relationship manager for The Right Thing, Inc., where her responsibilities included client candidate recruitment and interviewing. Her experiences in healthcare management and professional recruitment have equipped her well to function effectively as the student success advocate in the School of Pharmacy.
