Pat Estepp

Pat Estepp

Pat Estepp is in his fourth season as the head men’s basketball coach at Cedarville University. He has guided his alma mater to 73 victories and three consecutive national tournament appearances. The Yellow Jackets finished strong again in 2010-11 winning eight of their last nine regular season games including the last five in a row. CU, who was ranked as high as 14th in the NAIA Division II poll, finished at 20-13 giving Estepp his third straight 20-win season. Cedarville won 16 of its last 18 games in 2009-10 to finish 26-9 and 14-2 in the American Mideast Conference as the league runner-up. The Yellow Jackets, who were ranked as high as 8th in the national poll, later won the AMC Tournament and advanced to the second round of the national tournament. Estepp’s inaugural campaign at the helm was full of memorable accomplishments. He guided the Yellow Jackets to a 27-4 overall record and a share of the AMC title with a 12-1 league mark. Cedarville was ranked as high as #1 in the country, finished in a tie for the #2 spot in the final poll, and advanced to the national tournament. Estepp was voted the AMC Coach of the Year as well as the NCCAA Midwest Region Coach of the Year.

Brett Newman

Brett Newman joins the Yellow Jacket men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2011-12 season. Newman has 18 years of coaching experience at multiple levels of basketball including professional minor leagues, NCAA Division II, U.S. military all-stars, junior college, and high school. He also possesses an extensive camp and clinic background. Newman’s most recent head coaching position was during the 2009-10 season at Academic Magnet High School in Charleston, S.C. It is recognized as one of the top Gold Medal List schools by U.S. News & World Report and is No. 1 in the country among magnet schools - public schools that attract the most talented students in a region. Newman’s experience at the college level includes a stint as an assistant at Division II Florida Gulf Coast University. He also assisted in the JUCO ranks at Fullerton College and served as head coach of the Southwest Air Force All-Stars featuring a roster from NAIA, junior college, and college prep schools. Newman has been on the coaching staffs of the ABL New Mexico Roadrunners as well as the IBL New Mexico Slam. He has been an NABC Coaches Clinic Director and has worked at numerous camps throughout the country.
