Position Responsibilities:

Course Materials Buyer · Retail Services Bookstore

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Course Materials Buyer to coordinate all electronic and print textbook activities including acquiring adoptions, purchasing, pricing, stocking, selling and returns. This position is responsible for the management of all course material functions. This is a full-time, twelve month, non-exempt position that reports to the Manager of Retail Services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and collaborate with campus faculty on collection of adoptions in a timely manner. Follow up on late or problem adoptions.
  • Evaluate course material purchase requirements based on history, enrollment, and cost. Work with wholesalers and publishers to obtain materials at a lower cost. 
  • Create and process purchase orders for course materials
  • Receive shipment of books, price books utilizing computer software, ensure books are shelved appropriately
  • Manage online ordering system for course materials
  • Manage rental program
  • Manage inventory
  • Work closely with others to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Assist students with the purchase and acquisition of course materials
  • Develop and implement communication plans for end-of-semester buy-back, adoption processes, etc.
  • Share opening and closing duties with other buyers, to include extended hours

Position Requirements:

  • Possess experience in a retail environment; preferably in  a book buying environment
  • Possess a high degree of computer and data management skills; preferably experienced in point of sale and inventory tracking system
  • Possess strong creative abilities and an ability to stay abreast of the latest industry trends and innovations
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills  with an ability to work well under pressure
  • Possess a general understanding of basic accounting functions

Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, Academics

The Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning is responsible for the strategic, personnel, and fiscal management of the Center. The Center for Teaching and Learning serves the Academic Division by promoting innovation and excellence in teaching and learning at Cedarville University and by providing a variety of consulting, technical, professional development, and production services. This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position that supervises a team of employees. 

Key Position Responsibilities: 

  • Support both the traditional and online learning environments at the University by providing advocacy, direction, and leadership in the areas of faculty development, instructional technology, instructional design, effective methods of teaching and instruction, and production of learning solutions.
  • Develop working relationships with faculty and staff from disciplines across the University and work together to move forward the mission of the University at large and the key initiatives of the Academic Division.
  • Work with leaders in the Academic Division to establish, implement, and maintain sufficient policies and procedures for effective operation of the Center and its responsibilities.
  • Provide effective project management for Center work.
  • Actively plan the future operations of the Center and allocate Center resources appropriately.
  • Supervise and support the staff of the Center to ensure its continued operation and viability.

Position Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a field closely related to the activities of the Center preferred. Bachelor's degree required. Preference given to those holding a degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, or comparable field. 
  • At least 3 years of higher education experience required.  Previous management experience in higher education or creative settings is preferred.
  • Preference given to those with at least 5 years of leadership experience.
  • Expertise and experience in instructional design and technology, faculty development, learning theories and the techniques and skills of teaching.
  • Care for quality of production, ideally with successful prior experience working with creative professionals.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.

This is a part-time (1040 annual hours), non-exempt position that reports to the Director of University Medical Services. This position operates 9.5 months out of the 12 month year. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Receptionist duties include answering phones, responding to email, sending and receiving faxes, patient check-in and exit, patient scheduling, creating and maintaining medical records, and completing insurance verification
  • Manage department petty cash and process department credit card receipts
  • Maintain borrowed equipment log and complete charges as necessary
  • Create department signs, calendars, and PowerPoint slides for chapel
  • Provide administrative support for the UMS travel consultations for the Global Outreach program including making the leader packets, tracking team member status during travel, maintaining current lists of team members, and billing functions
  • Process insurance claims and input claims data into the Student Health Insurance computer program
  • Interact with students and parents regarding claims, insurance questions, and insurance coverage inquiries
  • Assist students with medical referrals to outside health care providers

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

  • College graduate or high school graduate with additional applicable college education
  • Prior medical office experience
  • Possess experience with medical insurance billing and billing computer programs
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of HIPAA laws
  • Possess computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets; experience with medical office software preferred
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to provide professional and compassionate customer service
  • Ability to support patients' weight briefly in case of fainting
  • Ability to stoop, bend, lift, reach and climb
