Assistant Director of Public Relations · Public Relations

Cedarville University is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Public Relations to post and edit news stories both internally and externally, to supervise University student writers, and to assist in internal communications and community relations functions. This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position reporting to the Executive Director of Public Relations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the student team of writers by training, scheduling, assigning, and editing projects
  • Write, manage, and regularly communicate news feeds and feature stories on Cedarville.edu
  • Implement advertising plan by creating DSR’s and coordinating creative media outlets
  • Use social media to advance the University’s image, news stories, and Public Relations initiatives
  • Coordinate sponsorship programs and campaigns; serve as liaison with sponsors
  • Assist in the development of media and community response during times of University emergency crisis
  • Manage/ track budget
  • Assist the Executive Director as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communication, journalism, professional writing, English, or marketing
  • Two years of experience in professional writing, editing, journalism, administrative, or related area
  • Possess working knowledge of common software including Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google and Site Core
  • Possess exceptional proofreading and editing skills as well as competency in internet and web usage
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to type, read and proofread with extreme care and accuracy
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate course material purchase requirements based on history, enrollment, and cost. Work with wholesalers and publishers to obtain materials at a lower cost. 
  • Create and process purchase orders for course materials
  • Receive shipment of books, price books utilizing computer software, ensure books are shelved appropriately
  • Manage online ordering system for course materials
  • Manage rental program
  • Manage inventory
  • Work closely with others to ensure timely payment of invoices
  • Assist students with the purchase and acquisition of course materials
  • Develop and implement communication plans for end-of-semester buy-back, adoption processes, etc.
  • Share opening and closing duties with other buyers, to include extended hours

Position Requirements:

  • Possess experience in a retail environment; preferably in  a book buying environment
  • Possess a high degree of computer and data management skills; preferably experienced in point of sale and inventory tracking system
  • Possess strong creative abilities and an ability to stay abreast of the latest industry trends and innovations
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills  with an ability to work well under pressure

Floor Care Specialist, Physical Plant, Custodial Services

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Floor Care Specialist to care for the specific floor area of assigned buildings as well as submit minor maintenance repairs through work orders and repair custodial services equipment when needed on the 3rd shift (10pm-6am). This is a full-time, twelve month, non-exempt position that reports to the Manager of Custodial Services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Shampoo and extract carpeted areas
  • Buff, scrub, and wax hard floor surfaces
  • Maintain equipment
  • Sub for workers who are off work
  • Perform custodial duties as assigned
  • Report to Campus Safety any unusual situation

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience with floor care equipment
  • Experience in carpet care and repair
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort, and occasional lifting and moving of objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Routine discomforts such as moderate heat, cold, moisture, and noise.
  • Routine exposure to light chemical substances and occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
  • Visual acuity for the accuracy and neatness required of custodians.
  • Pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, stooping, balancing, and climbing on stairs & stepladders.

Position Description:

The Cedarville University Centennial Library is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as an Information Services Librarian with liaison responsibility to the students and faculty of the School of Pharmacy, the School of Nursing, and the Departments of Kinesiology and Allied Health, Psychology, and Social work. Primary responsibilities include participating in the development and delivery of the information programs and services of the Library Public Services department, including library instruction and reference assistance with service desk rotation on evenings and weekends. Health Sciences Liaison responsibilities include reference, research, library instruction services, and collection development for the health sciences programs.

Successful candidates will evidence effective oral, written, and analytical communication skills; abilities in the use of medical and health sciences databases and resources; effective classroom instructional skills; creativity in program development and service delivery; an ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently; and a work ethic that emphasizes accuracy, detail, and decisiveness. This position is a twelve-month annual appointment with faculty rank.

Medical Receptionist/Student Insurance Claims · University Medical Services 

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Medical Receptionist  who will also complete duties related to student insurance claims. This is a part-time (1040 annual hours), non-exempt position that reports to the Director of University Medical Services. This position operates 9.5 months out of the 12 month year. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Receptionist duties include answering phones, responding to email, sending and receiving faxes, patient check-in and exit, patient scheduling, creating and maintaining medical records, and completing insurance verification
  • Manage department petty cash and process department credit card receipts
  • Maintain borrowed equipment log and complete charges as necessary
  • Create department signs, calendars, and PowerPoint slides for chapel
  • Provide administrative support for the UMS travel consultations for the Global Outreach program including making the leader packets, tracking team member status during travel, maintaining current lists of team members, and billing functions
  • Process insurance claims and input claims data into the Student Health Insurance computer program
  • Interact with students and parents regarding claims, insurance questions, and insurance coverage inquiries
  • Assist students with medical referrals to outside health care providers

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

  • College graduate or high school graduate with additional applicable college education
  • Prior medical office experience
  • Possess experience with medical insurance billing and billing computer programs
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of HIPAA laws
  • Possess computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets; experience with medical office software preferred
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to provide professional and compassionate customer service
  • Ability to support patients' weight briefly in case of fainting
  • Ability to stoop, bend, lift, reach and climb

Preventative Maintenance Technician · Physical Plant Mechanicals

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Preventative Maintenance Technician to perform the duties that are required by the preventative maintenance program as it relates to HVAC, plumbing and ventilation equipment. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-exempt position that reports to the Manager of Mechanicals. This position has been designated as emergency essential.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties as specified by the Preventative Maintenance program including replacing filters, light bulbs, etc.
  • Service and maintain ice machines and other equipment
  • Assist HVAC technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as directed

Position Requirements:

  • Experience with tools associated with HVAC work such as appropriate gauges and meters
  • Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and resolve equipment problems
  • Possess general knowledge of power and hand operated tools used in performing work detailed above
  • Possess the analytical ability to interpret data and adapt to standard methods to fit various existing conditions
  • Possess basic understanding of electric and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to perform heavy work which includes considerable physical activity requiring lifting, carrying or moving objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to apply a variety of procedures, policies and precedents.

Video Production Coordinator · Production Services Group 

Cedarville University is seeking to hire a Video Production Coordinator to develop visual elements for chapel and select events. This is a full time, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Director for Production Services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement video productions both on and off campus
  • Produce and edit creative video content for the department
  • Responsible for inventorying and maintaining equipment and planning for future upgrades
  • Develop mentoring relationships with student technicians
  • Fill in for other areas of production (i.e. lighting and audio) as needed
  • Train and supervise student technicians

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable past work experience
