Academic Vice-President

Cedarville University is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Institutional Research. This full-time twelve (12) month administrative position carries a non-tenured ranked-faculty appointment in one of the departments of the university. The successful candidate, under the direction of the Assistant Academic Vice President for Educational Resources, will be responsible for timely data collection, analysis and reporting to both internal and external constituencies.

This includes but is not limited to, the filing of required university reports such as IPEDs; providing primary direction for the most significant surveys required of university majors; the supervision and analysis of the annual university fact book; monitoring and recommending action steps for targeted market-related and action oriented institutional research needs; and coordination and communication with University departments regarding key dates, deadlines, and changes which might impact departmental programs. The Director of Institutional Research works closely with the Office of Accreditation Services providing research support and assistance in maintaining university compliance with federal, state, regional and programmatic accrediting standards.

A Master’s degree is required; PhD (or ABD) in research or a related field is preferred. Previous working experience within higher education is a plus. The incumbent will be expected to teach a minimum of six (6) hours per academic year. Demonstrated ability to teach statistics and/or research is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), email, and web based research is required. The successful candidate must have strong detail, analytical and math-related skills. Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Art/Design/Theatre

Assistant Professor of Graphic Design

Art/Design/Theatre

The Department of Art, Design, and Theatre invites applications for a ranked, full-time, tenure-track, faculty position in Web Design housed within the Graphic Design program; beginning August 2012. This position involves teaching undergraduate studio-based web and interactive design courses as well as select Graphic Design courses. Expectations include departmental and university committee work, academic advising, and maintaining a relationship with the professional design community in the Dayton/Columbus/Cincinnati area.

A Masters of Fine Arts (M.F.A.)in Graphic Design, Web Design, or equivalent is preferred. A Bachelor's degree with active pursuit of a M.F.A will be considered. A M.F.A. is required for tenure-track appointment. The ideal candidate will have college-level teaching experience, have substantial professional experience in web design, be strongly market-oriented in curriculum and program development, and be committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom.

Biblical and Ministry Studies

The Department of Biblical and Ministry Studies at Cedarville University invites applications for the position of Department Chair. This open-in-rank, tenure-track position begins July 2012 and requires administrative, teaching, and ministry experience.

The Chair of the Department of Biblical and Ministry Studies reports to the Associate Academic Vice President and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. This position has the potential to become the Dean of the School of Biblical and Ministry Studies in the near future.

Administrative duties include the oversight and direction of a department with more than twenty full-time faculty members and which offers a Bible minor (http://www.cedarville.edu/academics/bible/bibleminor.htm) that is required for every student and majors that include Preseminary Bible, Christian Education, Missiology, Pastoral Studies, Philosophy, and Youth Ministry.

Teaching duties would include 3 courses a year. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Bible, Theology or a related field in hand at the time of appointment, demonstrate teaching competence and administrative skill, and have a record of scholarship.

The Department of Business Administration invites applications for a ranked, full-time position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Information Systems beginning August 2012. The key responsibilities of this position include, teaching undergraduate Information Systems courses, such as, Database Management, IT Strategy, Enterprise Systems, Systems Analysis and Design and Business Process Management; advising students; and a commitment to university and community service.

A Master degree in Information Systems or a related field with a minimum of two years teaching experience and/or a minimum of five years work experience in the Information Systems field is required. The successful candidate must be willing and have the ability to pursue a Ph.D. in Information Systems if a terminal degree is not already held. Information Services Librarian & Health Sciences Liason

The Centennial Library is re-opening the search for a highly motivated and energetic individual to serve as Information Services Librarian with liaison responsibility to the students and faculty of the School of Pharmacy and the College of Health Professions which includes nursing, kinesiology and allied health, psychology, and social work. Primary responsibilities include participating in the development and delivery of the information programs and services of the Library Public Services department, including library instruction and reference assistance with service desk rotation on evenings and weekends. Liaison responsibilities include reference, research, and library instruction services for the health sciences programs. Required qualifications include an ALA-accredited MLS; minimum of 3-years reference and instruction or comparable experience in the health sciences in an academic, medical, or hospital library; evidence of engaging training and teaching methodologies; demonstrated abilities in the use of medical and health sciences databases and resources; experience in the development of digital resources, multi-media teaching tools, and web-based applications; and a working knowledge of library systems and digital information resources. A bachelors, advanced, or professional degree in a science or biomedical field, though not required, would strengthen the application.

Successful candidates will evidence effective oral, written, and analytical communication skills; creativity in program development and service delivery; an ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently; and a work ethic that emphasizes accuracy, detail, and decisiveness.

The Department of Music and Worship of Cedarville University is seeking applicants for a ranked full-time faculty position in Choral Music Education and Applied Voice to start August 2012.

The faculty member will teach courses in music education, applied voice, as well as direct a music ensemble. Other responsibilities include coordination of the placement and supervison of student teachers, serving as faculty advisor to the local MENC chapter, serving as the department coordinator for music education, advising undergraduate music education students, and agressively recruiting students for the program. Other duties may be assigned as relates to the candidate's areas of expertise.

A Master's degree is required; a PhD, Ed.D or equivalent terminal degree in Music Education is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years public or private school teaching is required.

The successful candidate will provide record of scholarly research and publication, or a record of experience and recoginition as a music education practitioiner, as well as a demonstrated level of professional artistry in vocal performance.

The Department of Nursing is seeking a ranked full-time faculty member for classroom and clinical teaching in a CCNE accredited BSN program, beginning August 2012. This faculty member’s primary responsibility will be to teach classroom and clinical in Behavior and Mental Health Nursing. A Masters degree in nursing is required; a doctorate degree (DNP, DNS, or Ph.D.)is preferred. Completion of an acceptable doctoral degree is required for the position to be tenure track. The qualified candidate must have an unrestricted registered nurse license in Ohio. Salary and rank commensurate with experience and credentials.

The Department of Nursing is seeking a ranked full-time faculty member for classroom and clinical teaching, beginning August 2012, in a CCNE accredited BSN program and a newly established MSN program. A Masters degree in nursing with FNP certification is required; a doctorate degree (DNP, DNS, or Ph.D.)is preferred. Completion of a doctoral degree is required for the position to be tenure-track. The successful candidate will teach both theory and laboratory courses in the Pharmaceutical Sciences department related to medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, biomedical sciences, or pharmaceutics and an elective course in any topic of candidate's choice. The candidate’s teaching must involve student-focused methods of active learning geared primarily towards Doctor of Pharmacy students. The candidate is expected to work with faculty across disciplines to develop integrated curricular content which utilizes innovative strategies in problem-based learning methods. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining an active research initiative while overseeing student research projects.
