Accessing Your Network Drives (Windows and Mac)

Using Novell Filr

Novell Filr is a new and improved method for accessing your H:, J:, S:, and T: drives from mobile devices and from off-campus locations. Filr has replaced NetStorage (browser-based) and WebDavNav (iOS devices) as the recommended way to access your Cedarville network drives from your mobile devices, or from off-campus locations for laptops.

Access Novell Filr from a desktop computer:

  1. Navigate to http://filr.cedarville.edu in your web browser.
  2. Enter your Cedarville University username and password where appropriate and click "Sign In."

Access Novell Filr from a mobile device:

For more information, see the appropriate help page.

On an Android device:
Access the Google Play Store and search for "Novell Filr."

On an iOS device
Download the app from the App Store and follow the onscreen instructions to install the app.

On a Blackberry Playbook or Z10:
Open the BlackBerry World app store, and search for "Novell Filr."


Web Browser

NOTE: Uploading files with NetStorage does not work in the Chrome web browser.

To access your network drive files through a browser:

  1. Go to https://myfiles.cedarville.edu/oneNet/NetStorage.
  2. Enter your Cedarnet username and password.

This method of connection uses a secure server.

FTP (H: drive access only)

WARNING: FTP connections are not secure. Your username and password are sent in a legible, plain text format easily captured. Do not use FTP to connect to your network drives with a wireless connection or off-campus.

Web Browser:

  1. To download your H: Drive files through a browser, place the folowing information in the "Address" or "Location" box:
    ftp://s1234567@myftp.cedarville.edu/
       (replacing the number 1234567 with your ID)
    -- or (depending on the format of your login name) --
    ftp://johnksmith@myftp.cedarville.edu/
       (replacing the 'johnksmith' with your login name).
  2. For password, simply use your Cedarnet password.

This method of connection does not use a secure server.

FTP Client:

You can access your H: drive through an FTP client.

  1. For the site address, use
        myftp.cedarville.edu
  2. For username and password, enter your usual CedarNet username and password.
