Cedarville, OH - Cedarville University will present Gilbert and Sullivan's classic comic opera "The Pirates of Penzance" in late April and early May. Nine performances of the musical production, including three matinees, will be presented in the Stevens Student Center. Dr. David Robey, Cedarville's director of theatre and professor of communication arts, will direct the cast.
"Few composers can claim greater impact on musical theatre than Gilbert and Sullivan," Dr. Robey said. "They are regarded by many musical historians as the most popular artists of the Victorian era, and "The Pirates of Penzance" may be their most popular work."
Evening performances are scheduled for 8 p.m., April 26 - April 28, May 2, May 3, and May 5. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on April 28 and May 5, and a special 1 p.m. matinee will be presented on May 4. General admission tickets are $10 and will go on sale beginning April 16.
