Cedarville Debate Team Competes at Intercollegiate Tournament

Cedarville, Ohio—The Cedarville University debate team performed well at the Intercollegiate Debate Tournament at Cedarville University Feb. 8-9. Seniors John Bolinger (Jackson, Mich.) and Jen Thompson (Palmdale, Calif.) took second place in the open varsity debate category, and junior Rachel F. Williams (El Cajon, Calif.) won second place for open varsity speaker. Williams and freshman Mark Bentley (Galloway, Ohio) teamed up for third place in open varsity debate, and Thompson took third in open varsity speaker. Fourth place finishes were earned in open varsity speaker by Bolinger and in Lincoln-Douglas debate by junior Mark Holden (Lancaster, Pa.). Other schools in the competition included Ball State University, Bob Jones University, Duquesne University, Patrick Henry College, and Wabash College. The Cedarville debate team is coached by Jeffrey Motter, instructor of communication arts. Motter is a resident of Cedarville.
