“The Christmas Shoes,” a novella written by Cedarville University graduate Donna VanLiere, has been made into a made-for-TV movie. The holiday drama, based on NewSong's adult contemporary #1 hit and starring Dayton native Rob Lowe, will air nationally on the CBS television network Sunday at 9 p.m. EST.

Cedarville, Ohio-Cedarville University graduate Donna VanLiere's best-selling novella, "The Christmas Shoes," has been made into a television "Movie of the Week." The CBS television network will air the production nationally on Dec. 1.
"The Christmas Shoes" stars Dayton native Rob Lowe ("The West Wing") and Kimberly Williams ("Father of the Bride") and is scheduled to air Sunday at 9 p.m. EST. According to CBS, "`The Christmas Shoes` is a heart-warming holiday drama, [in which] a workaholic attorney crosses paths with a young boy on Christmas Eve and rediscovers the true meaning of love, life and the holiday season." VanLiere is a 1989 Cedarville University graduate who now lives in the Nashville area. She wrote her book, published by St. Martin's Press in 2001, after being inspired by NewSong's mainstream adult contemporary single of the same name, which hit #1 in January 2001.
