Cedarville, Ohio—Dr. Larry Zavodney, chairman of the Elmer W. Engstom Department of Engineering at Cedarville University, has been elected to the Alumni Hall of Fame at Revere High School in West Richfield. The Revere High School Alumni Association nominates and selects honorees from among 10,000 alumni. To qualify for the award, a nominee must distinguish him or herself at the state, national, or international level through his or her chosen career or vocation and establish him or herself as a good example for Revere students. Zavodney earned an undergraduate and a master’s degree at the University of Akron. He received a Ph.D. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has taught on the faculties of four universities—including Yarmouk University in Jordan, where he helped to start an engineering program. He has chaired the engineering department at Cedarville University for the last 10 years. Zavodney was honored as the outstanding senior in his college class, inducted into the National Engineering Honor Society Tau Beta Pi, and was honored as the faculty scholar of the year at Cedarville in 1998. He is an internationally recognized expert in nonlinear vibrations. “My academic career is quite ironic,” Zavodney said. “I went on to college even though my high school guidance counselor discouraged it since I was in the bottom half of the graduating class of 1969.” Zavodney will be inducted at the Revere High School Graduation Ceremony on June 9. -30-
