Cedarville, OhioIsraeli clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein will perform at Cedarville University on Sunday, Nov. 3 as part of the Springfield Arts Council Rising Stars Series. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus.
Born in Minsk in the former Soviet Union, Fiterstein has received numerous awards, including the Francois Schapira Prize for Woodwinds at the Aviv Israel Competitions for Young Musicians. A participant in the 2001 Marlboro Music Festival, he has received critical acclaim for his performances of "The Shepherd on the Rock" with soprano Roberta Peters. Following the U.S. premiere of Henrik Strindberg`s clarinet concerto "Memorial," "The New York Times" reported that "Alexander Fiterstein played the solo part hotly and expertly."
