Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University will present the 2002 Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Conference Friday-Saturday, Feb. 15-16 on the Cedarville campus.
Festivities begin Friday, Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. as the University Jazz Band, University Jazz Singers, Lincoln School for the Arts Jazz Ensemble, and guest artists present an evening of music in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center. Guest artists include: Kenny Blake (nationally-known jazz sax soloist and recording artist), Michael P. DiCuirci (jazz trombonist and director of bands at Cedarville University), Armen Donelian (jazz pianist, recording artist, and jazz educator), John Harner (Xenia High School band director and former lead trumpet with the Stan Kenton Band), Paul La Conti (vocal music instructor and percussionist), Laila Kteily O’Sullivan (jazz vocalist, aural skills instructor, and Cedarville University faculty member), Jim O’Sullivan (Cedarville University percussion instructor and assistant director of University Jazz Band), Paris Rutherford (University of North Texas Jazz Singers director, published arranger, and noted clinician), and Carter Threlkeld (trumpeter and arranger).
On Saturday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m., conference participants, both instrumental and vocal, will give an ensemble festival in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center.
At 8 p.m., the guest artists will give a “coffee house style” jazz concert in the Hive Snack Shop of the Stevens Student Center.
