Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University’s orchestra will be in concert Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville University campus. The evening will include the final round of the University’s annual Concerto Competition. Finalists Sarah Buller (piano), Kyle McCarrell (trombone), and David Rench (trumpet) will perform with the orchestra in a competition for first place.
The Concerto Competition is open to all Cedarville University students involved in the music department. Three finalists are chosen by a faculty committee in March; the three then perform with the orchestra as a panel of visiting professional musicians determines their final awards placement. The results will be announced before the end of the concert.
Buller is a freshman music performance major from Central City, Neb. McCarrell, a Quarryville, Pa., native, is a sophomore music and multi-age music education major. Rench, a junior from Flushing, Mich., is majoring in mechanical engineering.
Admission is free. The orchestra is directed by Charles Pagnard, professor of music. For more information, call 937-766-7728.
