Cedarville, Ohio-Jazz saxophonist Greg Abate will be in concert at Cedarville University on Thursday, Nov. 14. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hive (snack shop) of the Stevens Student Center. Abate will also offer a jazz improvisation clinic at 4:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center.
Abate has been called one of the best "Big Band Bebop" jazz saxophonists of our time. Greatly influenced by jazz legend Charlie Parker, Abate has played with both the Ray Charles and Artie Shaw orchestras.
Along with his saxophone skills, Abate is a flautist, composer, arranger, and a Selmer clinician. His performances have taken him throughout the East Coast and Europe. The Massachusetts native attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and also has ten highly-acclaimed albums to his credit.
