Basketball Chases Away Winter Blues at Cedarville University Alumni Winter Weekend

Cedarville, Ohio—Winter means Yellow Jackets basketball at Cedarville University! Cedarville alumni are invited to a basketball-filled Alumni Winter Weekend January 31-Feb. 1. Many of the weekend`s events are also open to the public. Festivities begin Friday, Jan. 31 with the Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet at 6 p.m. in the Stevens Student Center Event Rooms. Five new members will be inducted into the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame for their college sports achievements: golfer Tim Birk `79, pitcher Shane Hardy `91, basketball player Dominic McKinley `92, runner Julianne Pletcher Miller `97, and manager/statistician Joyce Walker King `64. Cost for the Hall of Fame Banquet, which is open to the public, is $14 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Reservations for the banquet must be made by January 21. On Saturday, Feb. 1, alumni will gather for a cheerleaders reunion and a women`s alumnae basketball game, both at 12:30 p.m., and a men`s alumni basketball game at 2 p.m. These activities will take place in the Athletic Center. Varsity basketball (open to the public) begins at 5:30 p.m. as the Lady Jackets take on Mount Vernon Nazarene University in the Athletic Center. The men`s varsity game against the Cougars will follow at 7:30 p.m. Alumni are eligible for complimentary tickets for both events. Between games, there will be a special ceremony to officially name the Athletic Center after Don Callan, dean of the school of health and human performance, in honor of his many years of service to the University. Activities, including face painting, inflatable games, and balloon animals, will be provided for children of alumni throughout the day on Saturday.
