Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University students will hold various events to spotlight hunger awareness April 7-11. The activities include a campus-wide canned food drive and a challenge for students to pray for those less fortunate. The canned food drive will involve a competition between Cedarville University residence halls. All food collected will be donated to Xenia FISH Food Pantry. Kristin Felts, a senior sociology major from Olympia, Wash., is one of the organizers. She said the objective is to collect as many cans as possible to donate to FISH. "We want to flood their doors with food!" she explained. "We also want to open the eyes of the students here on campus to show them how fortunate we are." Members of the local community are also encouraged to contribute canned goods. Felts said the idea for the campaign was motivated by a class project. "We have to pick a social problem for our social problems class, tackle it, and present a solution," she noted. "We are hoping to open the eyes of the students here on campus on how many people go hungry a day and hope that the canned food drive will be a great success." For more information or to donate canned goods, contact Felts at 937-766-3346. -30-
