Cedarville, OhioKorean violinist Ju-Young Baek will perform at Cedarville University on Sunday, Feb. 2 as part of the Springfield Arts Council Rising Stars Series. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus.
Baek has won numerous awards and has played with prestigious orchestras around the world. In the 1998 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, Baek won the Bronze Medal, as well as prizes for best performances of a Beethoven Sonata, an Ysaÿe Sonata, an encore piece, and the commissioned work by Ned Rorem. She won first prize in both the Korean International Dong-A Violin Competition and the 2000 Young Concert Artists International Audition, in addition to top prizes at other competitions. She has performed with a myriad of prestigious groups, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Chamber Symphony. "The Indianapolis Star" has described Baek`s artistry as "spirited and buoyant ... a gorgeous tone and a lovely, silken sound."
