Snowflake Project to Benefit African Village

Dr. Susan Warner, co-chair of the Miami Valley Ohio Women of Vision chapter, places a hand-made crocheted snowflake on a Christmas tree. The snowflakes, made by war widows in Kosovo, are thank-you gifts for contributions of $20 or more toward the Women of Vision Snowflake Project. This project is raising money for a fresh water well in an African village. Donations may be made up to Wednesday, Dec. 31. Cedarville, Ohio—The Miami Valley Ohio Chapter of Women of Vision (WOV) wants to make a Christmas wish come true for an African village this year. That`s why they are raising funds through the "Snowflake Project" — a project to provide a fresh water bore well for the village of Fisheni in Zambia. In the Fisheni area, water lies hundreds of feet below layers of hard rock. Children have no choice but to drink disease-infested water from surface lakes and ponds. Providing a clean water source would cut the community's child mortality rate in half. Dr. Susan Warner, co-chair of the Miami Valley WOV chapter, explained, "As a thank you for your contribution of $20 or more, you can select one of the lovely crocheted snowflakes from the Christmas tree located in the Upper Level of Cedarville University`s Stevens Student Center. These snowflakes were hand-made by war widows in Kosovo specifically for our Snowflake Project." Donations may be made up to Wednesday, Dec. 31. For more information, contact Warner at 937-766-7632 (office), 937-376-8271 (home), or warners@cedarville.edu. WOV is a volunteer program of World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization. With 13 chapters in 11 states, WOV is committed to sharing God`s love by meeting the needs of poor women and children. The Miami Valley Ohio Chapter of WOV is a blended-age group, uniting female university students and various ages of community women in an effort to serve others. -30-
