Cedarville, OhioThe Cedarville University Gospel Choir will join Jonathan Dunn and Faith Ministries as well as the Sonshine Kids choir in a benefit concert for Urban Light Ministries of Springfield. The concert will take place on Friday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Jeremiah Chapel of the Dixon Ministry Center on the Cedarville campus.
The 125-member Cedarville University Gospel Choir, directed by Michael Dorsey, offers traditional and contemporary gospel music. They will join the energetic worship of Faith Ministries, a group of Miami Valley residents committed to making music that shares the truth of the Bible. Faith Ministries has toured the U.S., opening for recording artists like Commissioned and Kim Burrell, and is in the process of recording a third album.
The Sonshine Kids choir is made up of Springfield children ages K-5 who are part of Urban Light`s Sonshine Clubs.
According to its mission statement, Urban Light is a ministry which serves "children and families, feeding the hungry, and meeting other unmet needs." The organization accomplishes this in Springfield through programs such as Sonshine Clubs for children, Urban Light gospel radio, Adopt-A-Block, computer basics training, and the HelpMe program (which teaches English as a second language).
