Cedarville Musicians Participate in State Honors Band Concerts

Cedarville, Ohio—Nine Cedarville University students were selected to participate in last weekend`s Ohio Private College Instrumental Conductors Association (OPCICA) Honors Band Concerts. Each year, OPCICA selects top instrumentalists from nearly 50 Ohio private colleges to engage in a weekend of challenging musical performance. This year`s concerts — an Honors Band concert and an Honors Jazz Band concert — were held Jan. 17-18 at Ohio Northern University. The Cedarville students nominated to OPCICA Honors Band were Lana Christensen, a flautist from Portland, Ore.; Kyle McCarrell, a trombonist from Quarryville, Pa.; Derek McKinney, a trumpeter from Roanoke, Va.; Christina Mickey, an oboist from Salem, Ore.; and Seth Ritchie, a bass clarinetist from York Springs, Pa. The Cedarville students nominated to OPCICA Jazz Honors Band were Mike DiCuirci Jr., a bass player from Xenia; Brett Fisher, a trumpeter from Overland, Mo.; Tyson Herald, an alto saxophonist from Danville, Ind.; and Chad Winder, a percussionist from Altoona, Pa. -30-
