Cedarville University Announces Distinguished Speaker Series for Business

Cedarville, Ohio—The Cedarville University Department of Business Administration has announced its lineup for its 2004-2005 Distinguished Speaker Series. The series is designed to bring prominent senior executives to campus to meet with students and faculty. The purpose is to challenge business students with the executive`s perception of keys to success in the 21st century. In addition, the speaker`s insight on issues and challenges that businesses face today aids the faculty as they mold and shape the curriculum to prepare students to meet those challenges. Fred A. Buehler, vice president and general manager of performance chemicals at Eastman Chemical Company, will speak on Monday, Sept. 27. His presentation will begin at 3 p.m. in the Recital Hall of the Dixon Ministry Center. As vice president and general manager at Eastman Chemical in Kingsport, Tenn., Buehler manages a specialty chemicals business with sales revenue in excess of $300 million, more than 1,000 employees globally, and manufacturing operations in the U.S. and Europe. Carol Rivetti will speak on Monday, Nov. 15. A 1984 Cedarville University graduate, Rivetti has served as the U.S. vice president and general manager of Westcon Group North America since April 2003. Westcon Group is a global specialty distributor of networking and communications equipment, specializing in the convergence of voice, data, and video applications and technologies. Russ Weir, services delivery executive for IBM Global Services — ITS Public Sector, is the featured speaker for Tuesday, Jan. 31. Weir specializes in improving existing business processes and aligning information technologies to improve business cycle time and quality. His primary focus has been in the transportation industry, concentrating on back-office automation and optimization of people and processes. Retired American Electric Power (AEP) executive William J. Lhota will speak on Monday, Mar. 21. Prior to his retirement at the end of 2001, Lhota was president of energy delivery at AEP and executive vice president of the AEP Service Corporation. He is currently the principal of Lhota Services, a sole proprietor business focusing on arbitration, mediation, and energy consulting, as well as consulting, teaching and lecturing on business and engineering ethics.
