Cedarville, OhioDr. Steve Gruber has been named chair of the education department at Cedarville University.
An assistant professor of education and coordinator of the University`s master of education (M.Ed.) program, Gruber has been at Cedarville since 2000. Prior to coming to Cedarville he served as principal at Greenville (Ohio) Senior High School and held other teaching and administrative positions in Darke County.
Gruber is a resident of Greenville and currently serves on the city council. He is also an executive board member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission.
Gruber graduated from Cedarville in 1974. He earned his M.Ed. in school administration from Wright State University in 1977 and in 1984 he received an Ed.S. in curriculum and instruction from Wright State. In 1990, Gruber earned an Ed.D. in school administration from Miami University.
Upon making the announcement of Gruber`s appointment, Dr. Merlin Ager, dean of Cedarville`s School of Social Sciences and Professional Studies, said, "Dr. Gruber`s many years of teaching and administrative experience in a K-12 setting, plus these four years at Cedarville, have prepared him to become the new leader. He is a Cedarville alumnus with a strong commitment to the mission of CU and is a respected member of the department. We are pleased that he has accepted this appointment."
