Cedarville, Ohio-The play "Another Antigone" will be presented by Cedarville University`s NeXtage student production company. The play takes place Thursday, October 28 through Saturday, October 30 in the Alford Auditorium. Performances begin at 8 p.m. each night, with an additional matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
"Another Antigone" traces the battle of wills between a New England university professor, Henry Harper, and his gifted student, Judy Miller. Harper is not surprised by much - and particularly not by precocious students who want to rewrite his beloved Greek masterpieces to reflect current sociopolitical concerns. So when Judy announces that she intends to submit an updated, anti-nuclear version of "Antigone" in place of the formal paper Henry has assigned to her, Henry is adamant in his refusal. Unfortunately, Judy is as stubborn as her professor, and when she resolves to defy him and produce her play on campus, tensions begin to mount. Soon it becomes evident that what is at issue for Henry is not just his academic integrity, but his very livelihood.
NeXtage is sponsored by Alpha Beta Phi, the Cedarville university chapter of the national honorary theatre organization Alpha Psi Omega. NeXtage focuses on presenting social issues to initiate discussion of controversial ideas and broaden audience perspective through performance.
