Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University will observe its first Veterans Day ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. Nearly 4,000 people are expected to gather in the Dixon Ministry Center`s Jeremiah Chapel for the event. Cedarville University invites veterans and active duty military to attend in uniform and be recognized. The University program, titled "Walking Among Heroes," will involve music by the University Symphonic Band and soloist Beth Cram Porter, assistant professor of vocal music. In a special drama, Cedarville students and faculty will tell the story of a World War II (WWII) veteran who was part of the Peleliu Island invasion in the Pacific campaign. WWII veterans who plan to attend should call Melanie Scheerschmidt toll-free at 1-866-224-4490 by Monday, Nov. 1 to give their names, branch of service, and current rank so that their names can be read during the ceremony. In addition, they should make reservations for a complimentary WWII veterans luncheon to be held after the ceremony. Non-WWII veterans can take part in a separate, complimentary all-veterans luncheon after the Veterans Day Chapel. Reservations for the all-veterans luncheon should be made by Monday, Nov. 1 by calling 1-866-224-4490. The Veterans Day ceremony is free and open to the public.
