CU Faculty Member to Give Clarinet Performance

Cedarville, Ohio—Clarinetist Bruce Curlette will give a recital titled "The Brahms Clarinet Quintet: A Guided Tour" on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall of Cedarville`s Dixon Ministry Center. Accompanied by The Clarion Quartet (Cedarville students Rachel Talbot and Emily Plate on violin, Heather Johnson on viola, and Randall Plate on cello), Curlette will perform Brahms` "Clarinet Quintet" for clarinet and string quartet. Curlette is an associate professor of music at Cedarville University. Previously a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, he has also served as solo clarinetist with The Mantovani Orchestra and associate principal clarinetist of the Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra. Curlette received his bachelor of science degree in education from Jacksonville State University in Alabama and his master of music in clarinet performance from the Eastman School of Music. He earned a doctor of musical arts degree in clarinet performance from The Ohio State University. Curlette has studied under D. Stanley Hasty and James M. Pyne.
