Cedarville, OhioThe Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has announced it will grant accreditation to the Cedarville University Department of Business Administration (DBA). ACBSP is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education.
The DBA is the largest department at Cedarville University and offers majors in accounting, finance, international studies (global economics and international business), management, management information systems, and marketing. The department`s goal is to help students integrate biblical principles with business disciplines in a collaborative, technology-savvy learning environment.
According to Dr. Ron Walker, chair of the DBA, the accreditation process focused on educational inputs, activities related to the teaching/learning process, and the outcomes of the CU experience. He explained, "Through a rigorous self-study exercise (over a two-year period), the DBA faculty reviewed and reported on educational inputs like faculty qualifications, student profiles, facilities, library and technology support, and financial resources. The DBA also studied the educational activities that are part of our program (faculty teaching and student learning, student advising, scholarly activities, and consulting, for instance) as well as the mode of assessment, such as employer evaluations, alumni surveys, and standardized testing." The self-study was followed by a site visit by ACBSP.
Dr. Bert Wheeler, professor of economics, and Dr. Sarah Smith, associate professor of accounting, led the self-study project.
