Cedarville, Ohio—Cedarville University will hold its 109th commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in its Doden Field House. Six hundred and fourteen students are expected to receive degrees. Dr. Bill Brown, president of the University, will deliver the commencement address, and U.S. Air Force Major General Loren Reno will be awarded an honorary doctorate. Reno, a 1970 graduate of the University, will receive the honorary doctorate in recognition of his service and leadership to our nation through the Air Force. He is director of logistics at Headquarters Air Mobility Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. There he provides policy and guidance to organize, train, and equip aircraft maintenance, transportation, supply, contracting, and logistics plans units at 14 major active air installations in the U.S. and 17 en route locations around the world. He is responsible for 860 active aircraft, 8,200 vehicles and 24,000 people. Reno also assists in the readiness of more than 616 aircraft and 80,339 people in the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard. In 1979, Reno was recognized as the Air Training Command`s Instructor Navigator of the Year. He has also received the 1995 Defense Logistics Agency Director`s Award for Organizational Excellence, and, in 1998, Cedarville University named him Alumnus of the Year. He has been awarded a host of military decorations.
