With physician-assisted suicide legal in Oregon and under consideration in several other states, the debate remains: Is assisted suicide a form of compassionate care or does it lead down a slippery ethical slope?
Cedarville University’s own Dr. Dennis Sullivan, professor of biology, took part in the debate “Assisted Suicide: Compassionate Care or Slippery Slope?” at Cedarville University on April 4. Dennis spoke in opposition to physician-assisted suicide, while two other local medical professionals (Dr. Anne McWilliams and Dr. Robert Reece) took the pro and middle-ground positions, respectively.
The debate drew guests of varying opinions from around the region and allowed them to ask questions of the debaters.
