Cedarville University honored hundreds of local veterans on November 9 in its annual Veterans Day ceremony. More than 3,000 people were in attendance for the patriotic commemoration. The program, filled with music and recognition, featured World War II veteran and POW Louis Zamperini and retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Richard V. Reynolds as speakers.
During the program, Zamperini told how his post-war life of alcoholism, bitterness, and despair miraculously changed when he began a relationship with Jesus Christ at a Billy Graham crusade. Reynolds thanked veterans for providing our country with the “great gift of freedom and prosperity,” noting that World War II veterans endured losses which were “a level of sacrifice we can hardly imagine in today’s terms but which we can never forget.”
