Cedarville, Ohio-The Cedarville University Department of Business Administration is announcing the appointment of a true Man of Steel. Daryle Doden, who founded and leads one of the largest independent rebar fabricators in the country, has been named the University’s 2006-07 Executive-in-Residence.

The Executive-in-Residence program brings senior-level executives to the Cedarville campus to enrich the learning environment of undergraduate business majors, foster working relationships between business leaders and faculty, and provide faculty and staff with new ideas and perspectives on how to serve the business community.

Doden is the president of the Ambassador Steel Corporation (Auburn, Ind.), a distributor and fabricator of concrete reinforcing bar. Doden began selling steel out of a phone booth more than 30 years ago and incorporated the company in early 1974 with sales of $50,000 the first month. Annual sales are now exceeding $300 million. In addition to various civic and church responsibilities, Doden serves on the boards of Cedarville University and Correct Craft, Inc., a boat manufacturer in Orlando, Fla.

Doden will visit the Cedarville campus four to five to times during his one-year term as Executive-in-Residence. His activities could include teaching undergraduate classes, conducting seminars, interacting with students and the campus community, and meeting with alumni.

Upon announcing Doden’s appointment, then-DBA Chair Dr. Ron Walker said, “We are looking forward to having Daryle Doden on campus on a more regular basis. Three of his children are Cedarville graduates, and he has played an important role in a number of initiatives on campus. His experience in the very difficult and competitive steel industry will help students grasp the challenges of competing in a global marketplace and appreciate the entrepreneurial mindset needed to generate and maintain competitive advantages.”

The DBA is the largest department at Cedarville University and offers majors in accounting, finance, international studies (global economics and international business), management, information systems, and marketing. The department’s goal is to help students integrate biblical principles with business disciplines in a collaborative, technology-savvy learning environment.
