Cedarville, Ohio-Joe DiPietro’s Over the River and Through the Woods will be presented by Cedarville University’s NeXtage student production company Thursday, November 16 through Saturday, November 18. Performances begin at 8 p.m. each night in Cedarville’s Alford Auditorium.

Over the River and Through the Woods tells the story of Nick Cristano, an Italian-American who works in New York near both sets of his grandparents. He has been offered an excellent job on the West Coast and tells his grandparents he is going to have to move away. What ensues is a hilarious series of events connived by the grandparents to keep Nick from leaving the East Coast.

Kelsey Nelson, director of the play, explained, “The script was chosen due to its combination of comedy and sentiment. … This script is so captivating for our target audience because it is about moving away from home and leaving the ones you love.”

The student production company NeXtage is sponsored by Alpha Psi Omega (APO), the Cedarville University chapter of the national honorary theatre organization Alpha Psi Omega. As a self-perpetuating theatre company administered by APO, NeXtage uses its performances to initiate discussion of controversial ideas and broaden audience perspective.
