Terrorism Up Close

Terrorism became entirely too personal to Zakaria Fellah on December 7, 1993. On that day his father, the Algerian ambassador to Iran, was gunned down by the Algerian Armed Islamic Group.

Zakaria took political asylum in the U.S. following his father’s murder and worked at the United Nations (UN) for more than a decade. He is now a consultant and anti-terrorism activist based in New York.

The University’s Center for Political Studies was pleased to welcome Zakaria to speak on Islamic fundamentalism on March 30. Zakaria shared how terrorism has developed, particularly in Algeria, and elaborated on the terrorists’ ideology and strategies.

A Webcast of the event can be viewed on the Center for Political Studies' website.
