This past academic year, outstanding speakers were showcased in Cedarville University chapel
. Among them were Dr. James MacDonald, Joel Belz, Gracia Burnham, Dr. Darrell Bock, and Jon Kitna.
To start off the 2005-2006 chapel season, the University welcomed Dr. James MacDonald to lead its Fall Biblc Conference. MacDonald used questions such as “Who is God?” and “What’s God doing in my life?” to emphasize the holiness of God, expose identity lies that humans propagate, envision the realities of heaven, appreciate the discipline of the Lord, and learn about ways God works. MacDonald is the founding and senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows, Ill.
Joel Belz, publisher and founder of WORLD magazine, spoke to the University family on November 15. His visit was part of the Sixth Annual Pastors Summit, which drew more than 400 church leaders to campus. As the publisher of a magazine dedicated to reporting news from a Christian perspective, Belz offered listeners an opportunity to discuss cultural trends and the influence of media on our everyday lives.
Former hostage and missionary Gracia Burnham says there were at least three things she thought she would never do: 1) public speaking, 2) single parenting, and 3) running a foundation. But as she told the Cedarville University family on January 24, 2006, those things are now three prime ways God has enabled her to serve Him. Currently living in Kansas with her three children, Burnham has established The Martin and Gracia Burnham Foundation, which is dedicated to collecting funds and resources for the work of missions.
