From Cinderella to Robin Hood, Dr. Steven Winteregg, Chair of the Department of Music and Art at Cedarville University, is immersing himself in fairytales—but with a twist.

For Dr. Winteregg, the fairytales are not coming alive in books…they are coming alive “on stage” at the Dayton Ballet, and he is the composer! He shares, “If you would have told me when I was younger that I would be writing ballets, I would have laughed. But after the Dayton Ballet approached me about writing the score for An American Cinderella, I discovered I love writing for dance.”

His second composition, America’s Robin Hood, will be performed by the Dayton Ballet March 16-18th at the Schuster Center. Following the story of the classic English fairytale, America’s Robin Hood places the legendary English outlaw in New York’s Mohawk Valley in the years just before the American Revolution. The ballet includes bright choreography, innovative costumes, and spirited music.

Besides America’s Robin Hood and An American Cinderella, Dr. Winteregg has also composed Christmas Carol, and There Was a Time for the Dayton Ballet.
