Putting her story of pain, tears, and triumph to words, Bethany Abbas McClurg ’96 has written a book. In I Choose to Sing
, Bethany tells her story of having overcome leukemia, hip replacements, and severe depression. Drawing on an inner strength through her relationship with Christ and her passion to sing, Bethany shares the lessons she has learned throughout her journey.
In her freshman year at Cedarville, Bethany was diagnosed with leukemia. The cancer went into remission, but the intense chemotherapy treatments deteriorated her hip joints, requiring hip replacements at the age of 22. In the midst of these trials, Bethany completed her degree and went on to teach special education.
Now married and the mother of two boys, Bethany is no longer teaching. But in addition to her writing, she is using her vocal and songwriting talents to encourage others. I Choose to Sing
takes an honest and humorous look at the power of a relationship with God and finding a passion in living when the waters are deep and the mountains are steep.
