Orchestra Concert Slated at CU

Cedarville, Ohio-Cedarville University’s orchestra will present a variety of compositions during their concert titled “A Night of Concertos” on Tuesday, Apr. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Jeremiah Chapel of the University’s Dixon Ministry Center.

The 50-member orchestra will feature the selections of Piano Concerto by Grieg, Finlandia by Sibelius, and Concerto for Two Keyboards by Bach. Special guests include Dr. Charles Clevenger, professor of music, and Dr. John Mortensen, associate professor of piano.

In addition to the orchestra’s performance, the University’s 2007 Concerto Competition winners will be featured. Pianist Cara Slaybaugh (senior from Kansas City, Mo.), trumpeter Daniel Lewis (sophomore from Midlothian, Va.), and vocalist Sarah Gibson (senior from Woodhaven, Mich.) will all share their talents.

The orchestra is directed by Jun Kim, a doctoral candidate at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Kim is assistant professor of music at Cedarville University.
