Cedarville, Ohio—Kay Coles James, former Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and founder of The Gloucester Foundation, will deliver the commencement address for Cedarville University’s 112th commencement on Saturday, May 3. The ceremony to confer degrees upon 651 students begins at 10 a.m. in the University’s Doden Field House.

    James has experience and accomplishments in every sector of America’s economy. She has served dozens of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations, as well as in academia and government. She has managed a small office of five, and the largest workforce in the world.

    After being nominated by President George W. Bush, the United States Senate unanimously confirmed James to be Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) on July 11, 2001. As President Bush's principal advisor in matters of personnel administration for the 1.8 million members of the Federal civil service, Former Director James managed financial programs and workforces that are larger than many Fortune 500 companies.

    In 2004, James founded The Gloucester Institute an organization dedicated to identifying, training and nurturing African American leaders. The Gloucester Institute is committed to providing an intellectually safe environment where ideas can be discussed and transformed into practical solutions that produce results.
